ALEX MCQUEEN, a trialist with Yorkshire, made a dream debut for Stamford Bridge in the ECB Yorkshire Premier League North.

McQueen scored 94 then took 4-21 as Stamford inflicted a second consecutive league defeat on Dunnington.

The game at Low Catton Road saw the hosts make 276-7 - West Indian Donovan Sinclair (65 not out) adding to MacQueen’s effort, with three wickets for Dave Brent (3-68) the highlight for the bowling side.

A middle-order collapse saw the visitors slump from 96-2 to 110-7, top-scorer Oliver Sherwood (46) among those to fall, taking away any chance of a meaningful chase as they went on to lose by 111 runs.

As reported by The Press, reigning Yorkshire League champions York continued their winning start to the new-look league with a 109-run victory over Woodhouse Grange at Sandhill Lane.

Acomb were put to the sword by Jonathan Tattersall (92), New Zealander Dion Sanson (48) and skipper George Ross (48) as Harrogate posted the day’s highest total of 323-9.

For the hosts, last season’s York & District Senior League premier division leading wicket-taker, Andrew Brewster, took 3-80.

Their response was hampered by the loss of regular wickets and, despite half-centuries from James Fletcher (62) and Joe Dale (51), they could only manage 237-8, six runs short of a total which would have earned them two points.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge beat Castleford with almost 18 overs to spare, despite the fine efforts of David Wainwright, who was captaining Cas for the first time.

Wainwright made 71 and James Sykes 43 but Cas were all out for 151 as Stephan Croft (3-39) and new recruit Karl Carver (3-33) kept a tight rein for SHB.

Wainwright also took three wickets but opposite number Adam Fisher top-scored with 46 in Bridge's easy win.
