SIMON DYSON returns to European Tour action today when he tees off at the True Thailand Classic.

The York-born ace has taken a five-week break from competition since finishing 69th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic over a month ago and will hope it has done him good as he looks to kick-start his career and make his way back up the world rankings.

Dyson, 38, starts at 1pm local time at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, playing in a group with Finland's Mikko Korhonen and Antonio Lascuna of the Philippines.

It is his sixth event since returning to the Tour in January following surgery last June to repair a slipped tendon in his left wrist, but he has experienced patchy form so far this year, making the cut only once in that time, in the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Malton & Norton Golf Club star, who has six European Tour titles to his name and once ranked 28th in the world back in 2011, currently sits down at 503 in those world rankings after being hampered by injury and then being sidelined for much of last year.
