NEW Earswick Falcons enjoyed a comprehensive victory over Doncaster to pick up 12 points in the Yorkshire Over-55s League.

At home, Graham Lockwood, Mick Stannard, Bob Edwards and Barry Johnson went from 4-0 up after three ends to 16-5 down after ten but took nine of the last ten ends for a 25-19 victory.

Dave Imeson, Barry Harrison, Mick Head and Bill Waldie won seven straight ends to lead 16-1. Doncaster won the next four, including a six and four, to make it 16-14 after 12 but Earswick won seven off the last nine for a 29-17 victory.

At Doncaster, Gordon Fratson Rod Walker, Dave Elcock and Tony Abbot dropped a five at the first end but were largely in control thereafter and won 22-15.

Paul Murray, Eric Cookson, Ralph Tiplady and Dick Osguthorpe were always chasing their hosts, 10-9 down after 12 ends and 16-9 down after 15.

They trailed by four shots with three to play and scored three singles to lose 17-16.

New Earswick Ospreys fell to Featherstone Sharks.

The two games a Earswick were very close .

Jim Robinson, Howard Darrell, Dave Hutchinson and Brian Birch won 15-14 despite winning only 10 of the 21 ends.

Barrie Shipley, Ray Boyes, Kevin Potter and Vic Thompson led 14-12 after 14. They then dropped a five but but got a five back at the next and went on to win 23-20.

There was also a close contest at Featherstone.

Kevin Quinn, Dave Toms, Doug Carr and Bob Barrett scored only two singles in the first ten ends to trail 11-2 but won seven of the last nine. Dropping a five at the 15th cost them as they fell 18-17.

Ray Mawson, Alwyn Anderson, Terry Bellwood and Bruce Dobson never got going and fell 22-2 down after 11 ends.

They won the next five but slipped away again to a 32-13 defeat.

New Earswick 'A' and 'B' enjoyed a double against Scarborough in the Yorkshire League.

In the 'A' team match, Earswick were thankful for the 13 shots scored in the last three ends of the home games as they brought a 81-80 aggregate victory and ten points.

Imeson, Colin Ellis, Kevin Liddell and Waldie led 12-4 after ten ends and, after dropping a six at the next, won eight of the last ten, including a five at the last, for a 28-13 victory.

Graham Lockwood, Dave Sykes, Tiplady and Barry Johnson took too long to get started and trailed 17-2 after 14 ends.

They won five of the last seven ends, including fours at the last two, but lost 20-14.

At Scarborough, Dave Kermode, Brian Gray, Colin Pickup and Andrew Fothergill dropped a six at the fifth in an otherwise close opening 11 ends to trail 12-7.

They then dropped 11 shots in the next four before picking up a three and four in the run-in, losing 29-16.

Bob Elliot, Rod Walker, Mick Head and Paul Dawson led 8-0 after three ends and went on to win 23-18.

new Earswick 'B' won 12-2.

Joe Barker, Brian Hutton, Kevin Potter and Vic Thompson trail 12-4 after 12 ends but finished stronger and, helped by a four at the 19th, won 17-16.

John Snowdon, Bob Barrett, Terry Bellwood and Dick Osguthorpe, after being 6-6, picked up three fours and a three to lead 21-7 after 12 ends en route to a 27-11 win.

John Harrison, Bruce Dobson, Dave Hutchinson and Brian Birch had a close game with the lead changing sides several times.

With the scores at 14-14 after 20 ends, Earswick scored three at the last to win 17-14.

Paul Murray, Ray Boyes, Graham Bell and Gary Jones, after a slow start, went 14-11 up aided by two threes, but they only scored two singles in the last nine ends to lose 19-16.

* NEW Earswick Ladies edged Hornsea in the Yorkshire Ladies League.

At home, Margaret Moss, Moyra Ellis, Carol Williams and Pat Walker led 8-7 after six ends and slowly drew away, going on to win 24-15 after a five at the 15th.

Kath Hardcastle, Doramy Bellwood, Sally Domville and Kath Sykes, after being 5-5, won nine of 12 ends, including a six, en route to a 32-11 win.

Margaret Pearson, Irene Warrington, Norma Davies and Majorie Watson trailed were edged out 17-15 in a game of to and fro.

Denise Elliott, Gemma Broadhead, Margret Morgan and Monica Morgan were always up against it after trailing 9-1 after six ends and 15-3 after ten but they won seven of the next nine to have hope at 17-13 down with two - only to drop a seven and lose 24-15.
