ONE of Yorkshire's newest tracks, at Askham Bryan College outside York, will host the West of Yore point-to-point tomorrow.

It will be the first of two meetings at this track, with the six-race card getting under way at 12.30pm with the Confined Hunts race.

There are 12 entries in this, five of whom contested the Confined race at the recent Sinnington meeting. Code Blue came out on top that day and will look to keep winning form, though Kilmacallogue Bay is potentially the best of them, especially on better ground.

The YAPP Club Members follows - a conditions race where Novice riders are exempt from carrying a 5lb penalty.

The three strongest candidates seem to be Camden, Executives Hall, who won a string of Open races last season, and Opera Og, who always appears less effective on a stiffer track so could be suited by this sharp course.

The Mixed Open holds only ten entries and looks weaker than the other races, while the Intermediate has been poorly supported with only five entries, albeit with a quality field. Greensalt looks the one to beat.

The Restricted has a couple making their seasonal debut - Arboretum, who impressed in his maiden victory at Charm Park but has been soundly beaten since, and Barton Jubilee, who is best suited by decent ground.

In the concluding race, Arny, who showed potential in southern point-to-points last year, could have a chance, as will Ballybough Best and Cloghogue Boy, who was a close second last time at Sinnington.
