BRIDLINGTON Town strengthened their promotion prospects from the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division with a 2-0 victory at struggling Armthorpe Welfare.

Andy Norfolk (57 minutes) and Joel Sutton (73) netted for the visitors, who remain third, two points behind Worksop Town and Tadcaster Albion.

Pickering Town remained ninth after a 1-1 home draw against Athersley Recreation, with Callum Ward putting Town ahead, only for Declan Welford to equalise with five minutes left.

All that Knaresborough Town could manage at runaway leaders Hemsworth Miners' Welfare was a Gary Collier strike in the 72nd minute.

The trouble was that they were 4-0 down at the time and they went on to concede six after goals by Billy Law (17), Jason Yates (34, penalty), Sam Jones (46, 62), Dominic Blair (81) and Luke Danville (89).

Fourth-placed Harrogate Town notched a vital 1-0 win at second-placed North Ferriby United in Vanarama National League North, with the hosts missing several chances in the gusty wind.

Lloyd Kerry got the goal in the 27th minute, flicking home Jordan Thewlis' cross.

In contrast, second-from-bottom Harrogate Railway Athletic went down 5-1 at third-placed Glossop North End in Evo-Stik Division One North.

Daniel Barrett netted for the visitors in the 86th minute, Jamie Rainford (28), captain David Young (72), Ben Richardson (74) and Astley Mulholland (78, 89) being on target for the hosts, who scored four in the closing 18 minutes.

Clitheroe bagged all four goals in their 3-1 victory at Scarborough Athletic, with Sefton Gonzales (36, 65) and Ross Dent (38) netting for the visitors, for whom James Heywood scored a 45th-minute own goal.
