YORK City will travel to a top-of-the-table Northampton Town team who have won ten of their last 11 Sky Bet League Two contests.

Such form has taken Chris Wilder's men 11 points clear of the play-off positions and the Sixfields side also boast two games in hand on fourth-placed Bristol Rovers.

A tally of 18 league wins, meanwhile, is only matched in this country's top four divisions by League One leaders Burton and the Cobblers have netted in 23 consecutive league games since a 2-0 reverse to Plymouth in August.

Ten home triumphs is also two more than any other team have managed in League Two this term, while a tally of 49 goals is only equalled in the division by Morecambe.

Wilder's side are not as impressive at the other end of the pitch, though, with no team in the top eight having conceded more than the 31 goals they have shipped and, refusing to rest on their laurels, Northampton recruited midfielder Danny Rose from Oxford and Southend defender Luke Prosser on loan before Monday's transfer deadline.

Both could feature against the Minstermen although Prosser might be the most likely starter and the only change from the Cobblers' last contest - a 3-1 home triumph over Morecambe two weeks ago.

Ex-Hereford and Telford defender Rod McDonald's place might be under most threat.

Left-back Evan Horwood, who spent six weeks on loan at Bootham Crescent during the 2005/06 season, will play no part, though, having completed a temporary transfer to Grimsby.

Others definitely ruled out are winger Alfie Potter (ribs) and Paul Corry (knee), although midfielder Lawson D'Ath is back in contention after recovering from the groin injury he picked up at the beginning of last month.

Loan signing James Collins, who plundered 17 goals as Shrewsbury won promotion from League Two last term, will continue alongside Marc Richards in attack having netted twice in his three outings for Northampton.

Richards, 33, has scored 16 times during the current campaign but has failed to hit the target in three matches - his longest barren spell for 15 months.

Former Oxford chief Wilder is up for the League Two Manager of the Month with the team having won all four of their league fixtures in January, scoring ten goals and conceding just three.

Ex-Barnet and Portsmouth midfielder Ricky Holmes has made the Player of the Month shortlist too, having claimed two assists and netted four times, including a brace in the FA Cup against Championship neighbours MK Dons.

Both will learn if they have been successful today.

Northampton (probable); Smith, Moloney, Diamond, Prosser, Buchanan, O'Toole, Byrom, Holmes, Martin, Collins, Richards.
