YORK NOMADS won the only top flight game to get the green light in York Sunday Morning League division one when they beat Malt Shovel 5-2.

Liam Flanagan produced an array of high class finishing on his debut, bagging four goals in the win, while the icing on the cake was a well taken volley struck by Dan Andrew.

The top of the table clash in division two saw honours shared as NUR and Brayton fought out a 2-2 draw.

Stu Clark opened the scoring with a planted header early in the game and the score remained unaltered until the second period.

Brayton equalised immediately after the restart through Will Cleary only to see Gary Stephenson sweep his shot home from 20-yards to put NUR back in front. Parity was restored towards the end of the game when Paul Tiffany caught a clearance on the volley from 60 yards out to earn his side a point.

York Phoenix took advantage of their rivals' failure to win, a 4-2 success over Marcia Bishopthorpe moving them up to second place in the table.

Tom Norton produced a neat finish to give Phoenix the lead before a goalmouth scramble saw Marcia pull level before half-time.

Danny Phillips headed Phoenix back into the lead after the break before the Bishopthorpe side once again drew level.

Ben Low then struck a brilliant effort to give Phoenix the lead for a third decisive time before Norton added his second to seal the points.

Beeswing suffered a disastrous first half at home to Selby Olympia, going in 4-0 down, thanks to the pinpoint finishing of Tom Lazenby, who hit all four goals.

The second period saw a more even game but Lazenby completed his double hat-trick and Janos Takacs added a seventh as Olympia gained a 7-1 success. Ben Walsh struck Beeswing's solitary reply.

Knapton Lions dominated the first half of play against Haxby United but found themselves trailing to a penalty at the interval.

The Lions of Knapton fought back in the second period to lead 2-1, Danny Barret and Dan Conway combining to give them the lead. Haxby weren't done and piled on the pressure, finally grabbing a deserved equaliser late in the game.

Dom Green and Ashley Armitage were on target for Wentworth as they fell 4-2 at York Medics.

Quakerwood made light work of York Wanderers in the York Sunday Morning League Cup as they sailed into the quarter-finals with an 8-1 victory over their lower league opposition.

In the first half, Ryan Day was put clean through and hit a ball over the top of the onrushing goalkeeper.

His second goal was the best finish of the match, with man-of-the-match Day beating his full-back and smashing a 25-yard effort into the top corner of the goal.

Day then turned provider to set up Dale Holding's first goal and give Quakerwood a three goal advantage at the half-time whistle.

Holding netted his second right after the restart before Jamie Edgerton made it 5-0 shortly afterwards.

Wanderers then gained a consolation before substitute Nick McBride scored with his first touch of the ball to make it 6-1. A fantastic cross from Day then set up Holding to complete his hat-trick before Tommy Medd completed the scoring late on.

Dunnington also saw off division two opposition as they defeated Cliffe 6-1 to set up a quarter-final tie with Malt Shovel. Simon Castle struck a hat-trick in the win with Jimmy Willmoth, Theo Ainsley and a Rob Hart penalty completing their tally.

Quakerwood will play York Nomads in the last eight, Thorpe United host Wigginton Grasshoppers and Bubwith White Swan go into the last four with a bye. The games will be played on February 28.
