SIMON DYSON roared to a fast start at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic - and is right in the hunt for a seventh European Tour title.

The York-born golf ace recorded a bogey free 68 in his opening round at the Emirates GC, a four-under-par total that left him tied in sixth place following the first day's action.

Dyson birdied the par three fourth, par four eighth, par five tenth and the par three 15th and recorded 14 other pars in a faultless round of golf.

It was an effort which left him two shots behind the Swede Alex Noren, who leads the way on six under, and tied with world number two Rory McIlroy.

The round represented Malton & Norton GC stalwart Dyson's best since his return to action from wrist surgery at the start of last month and he will be hoping to push on today.
