NEW EARSWICK Ladies could pick up only two points when they entertained North Cave in the North Eastern League.

At home, Linda Tordoff, Gemma Broadhead, Annette Prosser and Margaret Morgan narrowly had the edge against R Hodgkinson at the start and led 7-6 after seven ends.

But they dropped eight shots in the next three to trail 14-7 and, despite winning seven of the last ten ends, North Cave - helped by a five at the 15th - went on to win 24-18.

In the other home game, Jackie Toms, Carol Williams, Monica Morgan and Pat Walker lost the first two ends against L Saunders but won seven of the next ten, including two fives and three threes, to lead 22-7 after 12 on their way to a 33-15 success.

Both rinks were soundly beaten in very similar fashion in the away games.

Denise Elliott, Irene Warrington, Majorie Watson and Margaret Moss only scored one single in the first nine ends as they trailed 21-1.

They won four of the next five to go 22-7 behind after 14 but won only two of the last seven as they went down 33-11.

June Barker, Peggy Walker, Lynn Page and Kath Sykes scored a four and a three in the second and third end to lead L Wiles 7-1.

They then lost the next seven ends to be 12-7 behind after ten. Although they won four further ends, they dropped a six at the 12th to trail 19-12 at 16 and were outscored in the last five on their way to a 29-13 loss.
