THE heavy rain once again played havoc with the York Minster Engineering League programme with only 12 fixtures surviving the washout.

Old Malton St Mary’s took advantage of one of their games in hand on their rivals, hitting a last minute winner at Tadcaster Magnets to gain a 2-1 victory and move up to fourth place in the table.

Philip Smith’s goal looked like it had given Magnets a share of the spoils after a battling performance against the former champions.

Brooklyn lifted themselves off the bottom of the table, and out of the relegation zone, with a shock 4-3 home triumph over Dringhouses.

Joe Rawcliffe gave the visitors the lead early on but Mikey Brown levelled the scores shortly afterwards. Dringhouses edged ahead again thanks to Sam Drake’s goal just before half-time but quickfire strikes from George Kirk and Matty Turnbull gave Brooklyn a 3-2 advantage after the restart.

Wilson Briggs stepped up to equalise from the penalty spot before Matty Webster scored a late winner to hand the points to the Malton side.

Malton and Norton now sit only one point behind leaders Pocklington Town in division one after a 6-2 humbling of Cliffe.

Simon Reeves gave the home side a 1-0 half-time advantage before further goals from Josh Ward and Reeves increased the lead to three early in the second period.

A brace from Goole marksman Chris Jackson then gave Cliffe a lifeline and reduced the deficit to one, only for Malton and Norton to find another gear and put the game to bed.

Reeves completed his hat-trick to make it 4-2 before Tom Audsley and Scott Preston rounded off the scoring.

Hemingbrough and Tockwith played out a 2-2 draw, Tom Collins and Adrian Wood on the mark for the home side.

Barmby Moor secured a three point cushion at the top of division two following an 8-0 rout of Fulford FC United.

Jack Lockwood hit an impressive four goals in the victory with Liam Booth (2), Curtis Barker and Tom Mercer also on target.

A Nick Evans hat-trick was not enough to stop Pollington suffering a 6-3 home defeat to Settrington in division three.

In Reserve A, Riccall United gained a much needed point from a 1-1 home draw with Church Fenton White Horse.

Jordan Lissenburg found the net for the hosts. The only action in Reserve B saw Bishopthorpe win 3-1 at home to Easingwold Town but, even after that success, both sides remain rooted in the relegation places.

Civil Service leapfrogged F1 Racing to move second in Reserve C following a 3-2 away triumph over their rivals.

Declan Richardson gave the visitors a 1-0 half-time lead before F1 took control of the game in the second period, Adam Robertson bagging a brace to give the hosts the advantage.

An excellent penalty save from Liam Goodwin prevented F1 from going further clear before Joe Hamilton levelled the scores with twenty minutes remaining. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could capitalise until Hamilton bagged his second late on to give Civil Service the points.

In round four of the York FA Saturday Junior Cup, Old Malton St Mary's Reserves went out 4-2 to Thorpe United.
