JUDD TRUMP got off his sick bed to set up a Betway UK Championship clash with Stuart Carrington.
The Bristol potter beat amateur Hammad Miah 6-1 in the first round at the York Barbican, helped on his way by breaks of 74, 67 and 75.
The 2011 winner in the Minster city, who lost a final frame thriller in the showpiece game 12 months ago against Ronnie O'Sullivan, revealed afterwards he had been suffering with a cold, which had affected his practise.
"It was a weird game, really, and I just happened to get through," he said. "It's tough coming and playing these players. He beat me in one of the PTCs so I knew he could play a bit.
"He's a great potter and most of the players can play nowadays so it's always really tough. A lot of people have raised their games against me this season but it has still not been bad.
"I have had a couple of early defeats but I feel like I am playing well again now and I have practised hard for this one.
"I have been a little bit ill, and I still am, but I have a three day break so I should be fine for the next game.
"I've got a bit of a cold so I haven't been able to practise as much as I want to."
On Carrington, who Trump beat 10-6 in the first round of the World Championship back in April, he added: "If I can play solidly and just get through the first couple of rounds then, hopefully, I can concentrate.
"I am not going to take him lightly. He did play well against me in the World Championship and I didn't do a lot wrong from a big lead and he rattled off a few frames. It's going to be a tough game.
"I know he can play. He's my age and I have grown up playing him. I know how he plays and I know my game.
"I know if I can produce anywhere near my best I should be okay but I know I have had a few defeats where lower ranked players have played much better than Ronnie has against me. I am not going to take anyone lightly."
He continued: "I think I am going to stay up here (York) and just try and relax, rather than just go back and stress myself out. I think I will relax in bed for a few days.
"It's nice to be involved in all these big tournaments. There are not that many over here anymore so it is nice to be a part of it."
