BUBWITH White Swan continued their quiet progress up the York Sunday Morning League division one table with a 3-2 victory at Malt Shovel.

The Swans led at the break 2-1 thanks to Ryan Whitlam and Simon Houlder goals either side of Adam Durnin's equaliser. In the second period, Oliver O'Neill struck to make it 2-2, but Whitlam popped up with a 90th-minute winner to give Bubwith the points and propel them to third place in the table.

York Phoenix joined NUR at the top of division two following a 4-2 triumph over Wentworth.

A well-taken 20-yard strike from Tom Newton gave the visitors the lead before Dan Horsfall levelled the scores following a defensive error. Mike Tansey then struck either side of the break to make it 3-1 to Phoenix before Roy Page headed home his first goal for the York side to put the result beyond doubt. Dan Franks hit a late consolation for Wentworth.

Beeswing had to start with a reduced outfield line-up at Thorpe following transport issues and that proved costly as they found themselves four goals down at the break to a Shaun Gandy hat-trick and a James Newnham penalty.

Carl Falcone gave Beeswing some hope in the second half but they had a mountain to climb as Thorpe saw the game out for a 4-1 success.

Marcia Bishopthorpe defeated Haxby United 6-3. Chris Johnson and James Gilbertson (2) grabbed the Haxby goals.
