NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC will be looking for quick revenge on Saturday - and to get off the mark again in the Pennine League championship.

All Blacks' match at Allerton Bywater last week was controversially postponed due to a waterlogged pitch - the decision being supported by club chairman Paul Pallister after the team had travelled and seen the surface water and patches of ankle-deep mud.

It means they instead have a back-to-back fixture against King Cross Park, who beat them 38-10 on November 7 and now come for the return clash at White Rose Avenue (2pm), where the York side have a fabulous home record over the past 18 months.

All Blacks' only previous game there this term brought a 42-10 win over joint-leaders Odsal Sedburgh, though those two points were then deducted after the team forfeited their following match at Batley Boys, leaving them back on zero after four fixtures and at the foot of the table.

Said Pallister: "We've only had one home game so far because of away cup ties so it will be good to get back there. We've got a great home record in recent times.

"It's a quick chance for revenge. When we went to King Cross it was another sloping pitch and we didn't play it well and they did.

"We'll have to get off the scoreboard in the table again. We beat the top-of-the-table team last time we were at home so we'd hope for the points."

On last week's call-off, which did not go down well with Allerton's coach, Pallister said: "Common sense prevailed when the referee had a look at the pitch.

"There was surface water and areas that were dangerous. The lads have to work on Mondays and I've seen it happen where people get injured (due to poor surfaces). I got a bit of grief (from Allerton's coach) but I didn't want them to play on a pitch like that."

Selby Warriors, who missed the chance to go clear at the top of division two when losing 24-14 at Eastmoor while CK Vikings also lost, have a week off league action.

Sherburn Bears entertain Wortley Dragons (2pm) in division four east aiming to make it four wins from four after last week's 30-0 defeat of a young Drighlington.

Centre Jordan Richards notched a hat-trick in the rain, all after skilful stand-off Sam Booth had first unlocked the defence with the opener.

Booth also helped to set up tries for Rob Culshaw and John Fenwick, and the first for Richards, before Lewis Booth - man of the match after 80 excellent minutes in the engine room - created Richards' second.

Richards' third was all his own work, after scooping up a loose ball, and made it eight tries in his last two games.

Connor Jordan added three conversions, while centre Luke Hobson played his best game for the club so far.
