PICKERING Town's three game winning run came to an end as they lost 4-2 at Rainworth Miners Welfare in Northern Counties East League premier division.

After victories over Bridlington Town, Liversedge and Albion Sports, the Pikes were always chasing the game in Nottinghamshire after they fell behind to Jamie Yorke's second minute goal.

Manager Paul Marshall's men fought back strongly after that initial setback, George Bissett having a shot saved before Calum Ward was brought down in the box in the 12th minute.

The striker picked himself up to level the scores but parity lasted only ten minutes before Yorke netted his second.

Sam Lingard came on for Niall Tilsley and, 12 minutes after the break, Lewis Taylor grabbed a second equaliser for Pickering with a wonderful goal.

His free kick hit a post and went in. But rather than push on, the Ryedale side fell behind again and could not reply this time.

Connor Smythe, on 67 minutes, re-established Rainworth's lead and, nine minutes from time, Liam Theakstone ensured the home side grabbed the three points.

The result sees the Pikes in 11th place.

Selby Town's NCEL division one game against Rossington Main was called off because of a waterlogged Flaxley Road pitch but there were no such worries at Knaresborough Town.

The home side, though, did not get the result they were looking for - going down 2-0 to Hallam.

Scarborough Athletic and Harrogate Railway both tasted defeat in Evo-Stik first division north,

The Seadogs lost 3-1 at Farsley Celtic after taking the lead through Ryan Blott's penalty two minutes before half-time.

Amazingly, Scarborough found themselves 2-1 down at the break after Robert O'Brien and Paul Walker netted quick goals.

Aiden Savory scored with six minutes left on the clock to secure the result.

Railway were beaten 3-1 by Kendal Town at Station View. Garry Hunter gave the visitors the lead seven minutes after the break and Samuel Bailey doubled their advantage barely 120 seconds later.

Daniel Barrett, on 59 minutes, reduced the deficit but Jordan Connerton made the game safe for Kendal on 74 minutes.

Harrogate Town were also beaten - Alfreton Town taking a 2-1 victory away from Wetherby Road.

The result saw them slip to fifth in the National North table, despite them taking the lead with a stunning Joe Colbeck free-kick from just outside the box.

But Andi Thanoj levelled just before half-time and John Johnston got the winner nine minutes after the restart.
