YORK City midfielder James Berrett has won The Press Player of the Month award for September.
The former Republic of Ireland under-21 international started the month with a goal during the 3-0 victory over Newport and was also our man of the match during last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Notts County.
He received three points towards the contest for that accolade and went on to collect the extra two available to the Player of the Month standings after topping out online man-of-the-match poll, which placed him one ahead of nearest rival Luke Summerfield.
Eddie Nolan (two) and Femi Ilesanmi (one) were also recognised with points as our second and third-highest rated performers at Meadow Lane.
For Tuesday night’s 2-1 home defeat against Oxford, Marvin McCoy (three), Femi Ilesanmi (two) and Keith Lowe (one) received The Press points.
Teenage midfielder Ben Godfrey, meanwhile, received the most on-line votes.
