FIRST-YEAR pro Callum Rzonca is being tipped for a bright future following a goal for York City reserves.

The teenage striker netted during this week’s 3-1 defeat against Hartlepool with manager Russ Wilcox admitting the youth-team graduate continues to catch his eye.

“Callum is doing really well,” Wilcox enthused. “It's a difficult situation to push our young players into at the moment but I've got a lot of time for him and, every time he trains or plays, he gives it his all.

“He went through one-on-one against Hartlepool and it was a really good finish into the corner. He also played in a few different positions during the game, including out wide and through the middle and did well in all of them.

“He's certainly one for the future and his terrific attitude will give him every chance of being a success in the game.”

Sacked Oldham manager and former City defender Darren Kelly, meanwhile, has been appointed the new manager of Conference strugglers Halifax.
