NOTTS County will entertain York City tomorrow having failed to keep a clean sheet in ten matches.

Since a 2-0 opening day victory at Stevenage, Ricardo Moniz’s men have not managed a single shut-out with former Manchester United and Northern Ireland keeper Roy Carroll – the 37-year-old veteran who once moved to Old Trafford from Wigan for £2.5million - having conceded an average of more than two-goals-a-game this season.

Only Carlisle, with 17, have let in more Sky Bet League Two goals than the 15 shipped by the Meadow Lane outfit, who lie one point and one place above the 17th-placed Minstermen.

County have compensated a little for their defensive fragility by scoring in ten of their 11 matches during 2015/16 with only neighbours Mansfield managing to keep them off the scoresheet during a 2-0 home defeat back on August 14.

That result also represents the only time Notts have lost on their own turf this term with the team having racked up three straight wins at their 20,000-capcity arena, scoring ten goals in the process to see off Crawley (4-1), Luton (3-2) and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy visitors Mansfield (3-1).

Former Carlisle midfielder Liam Noble bagged a brace in Tuesday’s triumph over Crawley and is the leading marksman with five goals.

In Izale McLeod (153) and Jon Stead (107), County also have two forwards to call upon with more than 250 professional goals between them.

Stead, 32, has commanded transfer fees of £4.4million during his career, including top-flight spells at Blackburn, Sunderland and Sheffield United.

McLeod, 30, also moved for a seven-figure sum in 2007 when he left MK Dons for Charlton and scored 21 goals last season for Crawley despite their relegation from League One.

The former England under-21 international has already netted three times in five games since his £100,000 switch from the Sussex club last month.

Stead has hit the target twice in 11 outings following his move from Bradford but was dropped to the bench against Crawley.

Former Leeds United striker Alan Smith, meanwhile, was given his first start of the season in that match.

The 34-year-old, who has 19 senior caps with England to his name, plays in midfield these days, having also totalled £13million in transfer fees following moves to Manchester United and Newcastle.

Moniz took over at County in April, having previously been in charge at 1860 Munich, Ferencvaros and Red Bull Salzburg.

The 51-year-old Dutchman has also coached at Hamburg, Tottenham, Grasshoppers Zurich and Feyenoord in the past but he will be without three players – midfielder Rob Milson, defender Taylor McKenzie and striker Ronan Murray – who are yet to kick a ball since pre-season due to injury.

Winger Kyle De Silva, meanwhile, remains sidelined too with a ruptured thigh muscle.

Notts County (probable): Carroll, Hewitt, Edwards, Hollis, Swerts, Smith, Aborah, Campbell, Noble, Burke, McLeod.
