NORTH Cave have won the HPH York Vale Cricket League title for the third time in four years.

They crushed nine-man North Duffield by ten wickets to win the title with a week to spare.

Duffield's batsmen struggled, Trevor Britain batting 27 overs for his 15. James Knibb scored 42 of their 70 all out, Karl Youngman taking 4-27. Cave openers Charlie Cockin (36no) and Damian Sharp (31 not out) needed only 13.1 overs to retain the championship.

Bishopthorpe finished as runners-up.

A 64-ball 103 from Scott Clapham set up their 73-run win against Burn. His innings included five sixes and nine fours.

The match was also notable for the performance of the Bindloss family, with father Ed and sons Alex and Angus, making his first team debut, taking seven of the eight Burn wickets to fall. Jacob Webster scored a fine 63 for Burn.

Kelfield timed their run chase perfectly to overhaul Ovington's 188-7.

Pete Kelly struck 84 for Ovington but Chris Walker followed his three-wicket haul with a half-century, leaving Neil Atkinson (32) and Ben Atkinson (20no) to see Kelfield home with eight balls to spare.

The division's wooden spoon will go to either Stockton & Hopgrove, North Duffield or Fulfordgate, with Duffield hosting Stockton on the final Saturday and Fulfordgate entertaining Melbourne.

Melbourne beat Stockton by 60 runs with opener Ian Kirby (57) top scoring in a total of 171. Dan Fairclough (4-36) was Stockton’s best bowler.

Fulfordgate had no answer to Ben Johnson duo Steve Wragg (4-20) and Steve Thornton (4-4) as they crashed to 53 all out.

Westow will be playing in the first division next season for the first time since 2006.

They beat Heworth by 13 runs to stretch their unbeaten league run to 11 games, but Fin Scott’s fine 54 not out almost ruined the promotion party.

Stillingfleet’s Phil Johnson faced only 60 balls for his 112 not out, smashing nine sixes against Clifton Alliance's youngsters. With Rob Bielby’s solid 56, Fleet totalled 274. Al Barton made 61 as Alliance closed on 158-7.

Malton & Old Malton II will take the division three title if they win at Thorpe Willoughby on Saturday.

Leaders Acomb finished their campaign with victory against Thorpe Willoughby, who struggled against seamer Jon Beech (4-14) and Rob Sanderson (4-15). Acomb’s batsmen also laboured but got home with 2.1 overs and two wickets remaining.

Experienced opener Ray Adamson hit 15 fours and a six in his 86 as Burn II beat Selby by 76 runs.

Yapham's 185-7 against Pocklington was built around 68 from Mark Fairey and his 122-run partnership with Michael Plevin (38). Dan Litherland was the pick of the Pock attack with an all-bowled 5-68.

James Baker blasted 84 for Pock, thumping 13 boundaries and a couple of sixes, but, with only Steve Relf (22) making any other significant contribution, ten-man Pock were dismissed for 137.

Martin Veysey continued his fine all-round season for Stamford Bridge, hitting 67 in the division four win against Malton & Old Malton II.
