FRANKIE Dettori and Irish trainer Willie Mullins, triumphant on Knavesmire yesterday with Max Dynamite, can double-up this afternoon by clinching the £275,000 Betfred Ebor Handicap with Clondaw Warrior, who has only got into the race by the skin of his teeth.

Dettori had originally been booked for this gelding, but switched to stablemate Wicklow Brave when Clondaw Warrior failed to make the first cut and was installed as first reserve. But with Quest For More being taken out of the Ebor yesterday morning, Clondaw Warrior was able to take his place and Dettori switched back to him once again.

It's no surprise.

While both the Mullins horses bring useful credentials to the Ebor table, Clondaw Warrior has been in unstoppable form, winning at Royal Ascot and Galway on his last two outings.

A fully mature horse at the age of eight, Clondaw Warrior makes plenty of appeal in the richest staying handicap in Europe.

Top Notch Tonto is one of several well-known and popular North Yorkshire horses lining-up in the opening Betfred Mobile Strensall Stakes.

Brian Ellison's gelding relishes some give in the ground and has bounced back to top form lately, winning in Listed company on this course on his penultimate start and finishing second in Group 2 company here four weeks ago. He looks sure to go well under Silvestre de Sousa.

North Yorkshire jockey Paul Mulrennan, who notched his first-ever Group 1 winner on Mecca's Angel in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, bids to further York honours on Hernandoshideaway in the Betfred Melrose Handicap.

Trained by Michael Dods, also the handler of Mecca's Angel, Hernandoshideaway won well at Pontefract recently, beating the useful Penhill. He has more on his plate here, but he looks a progressive stayer in the making and a bold bid is anticipated.

William Haggas has had a great meeting and the Newmarket-based Yorkshireman can put the finishing touches to a tremendous week by completing a double in the two principal juvenile races on the final card.

Haggas saddles two in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes, Ajaya and Raucous and preference is for the last-named who is unbeaten in two starts and who looked a useful colt when scoring at Newmarket four weeks ago. Pat Cosgrave takes the mount on Raucous, who is fancied to complete a hat-trick.

Ornate is napped to lift the Julia Graves Roses Stakes for Haggas and Cosgrave.

Too green to do himself justice on his debut when he finished fourth, Ornate has since spreadeagled his rivals in a Ripon maiden. He now steps up to Listed company for the first time and is selected to come up trumps over this fast five furlong course.

Mick Easterby likes nothing better than a winner at York, and at the Ebor meeting in particular, and the veteran Sheriff Hutton trainer saddles Henseatic in the Betfred Supports Jack Berry House Handicap.

A useful-looking horse, a couple of years ago, when trained at Newmarket by John Gosden, the six-year-old subsequently had problems, but there is no better man than Easterby to nurse one back.

After two races this season, both unplaced efforts, Hanseatic is fancied to take another step forward here by figuring in the fighting line. Graham Gibbons takes the mount.

Nigel Tinkler produced Thesme to win on this course a month ago and the speedy three-year-old can follow-up in the Betfred Apprentice Handicap. The mount on Thesme goes to Rachel Richardson, who is enjoying her best-ever campaign and who has already had a couple of York winners this year.

In the final race of the 2015 Ebor Festival, Richardson is fancied to bring up another Knavesmire success.
