A RECORD turn out saw record funds raised as Forest Park Golf Club staged a successful York City Official Golf Day.

The Enforcers, captained by Kevin McGowan, were the winning team - with 95 points - following an afternoon of competition which saw keen golfers and York City players and management take to the Stockton-on-the-Forest course.

Manager Russ Wilcox, assistant John Schofield and a number of the Minstermen squad supported a day where more than two dozen teams teed off in a shotgun start and which was sponsored by Elcocks Power Tools.

Forest Park professional Mark Winterburn said: "It was brilliant and could not have gone any better. I think we had about ten York City players in total. Even those who didn't play golf came down and walked the course. It was really well supported both by the teams and by the football club.

"The number of teams was perfect and everything ran smoothly. Next year we may feel that we can take a few more but it couldn't have been planned any better. The weather stayed fine and it was a really good day."
