MULTELLIE, narrowly beaten on his latest visit to Ripon, can gain compensation on the same course this evening.

Trained at Great Habton by Tim Easterby, the progressive three-year-old lines up in the 21 Engineer Regiment Sapper Handicap with David Allan in the saddle.

A winner at Haydock, Multellie has since finished runner-up at Pontefract and on this course, where he was cut down late on by the strong-finishing Leighterton and beaten three-parts of a length.

Multellie seems particularly well suited to this trip of a mile and a half and he is fancied to regain the winning thread for Easterby, whose horses are in sparkling form.

Easterby can also win the Bondgate Handicap with WIGGLE, the mount of Rachel Richardson, who is enjoying her best-ever campaign.

On her latest start at Doncaster, Wiggle finished second to Firgrove Bridge. A reproduction of that performance would see her bang in the firing line here.

SPIRIT OF ZEB may prove the answer to the £12,000 Wilmot-Smith Memorial Handicap.

The three-year-old, one of Richard Fahey's two runners in this sprint, made a successful reappearance at Hamilton last month and may be able to defy a 3lb rise in the hands of George Chaloner.

SHAMAHEART should not be underestimated in the Childrens Festival Circus Here 3rd August Handicap.

Geoff Harker's gelding finished a respectable fourth to Thorkhill Star at Beverley on his latest start. His North Yorkshire trainer has now recruited the services of smart apprentice Phil Dennis, whose 7lb claim gives this five-year-old a good chance of coming out on top.

LITTLE SWIFT looks the most logical choice in the opening Kirkgate Maiden Auction Fillies' Stakes.

Trained at Newmarket by David Simcock, the two-year-old failed by only a short head to win at Newbury 11 days ago and, in the hands of Oisin Murphy, can go one better in this six-furlong dash.

James Doyle can make his journey from Newmarket worthwhile by winning the SIS Live Maiden Stakes on PYJAMA PARTY. William Haggas' charge has finished runner-up at Hamilton and Nottingham and deserves a winning turn.

Up at Ayr, DONJUAN TRIUMPHANT is napped to take the opening honours in the British Stallion Studs Maiden Stakes.

The colt, trained by Fahey, was narrowly beaten at Redcar on his debut last month. He will have learned plenty from that experience and this promising juvenile is fancied to go one better with Tony Hamilton taking over in the saddle.

BLUE JACKET is the selection in the first division of the Racing UK Handicap.

Trainer Dianne Sayer has the four-year-old, already a course winner this season, in fine form. Her daughter Emma, who claims a valuable 5lb allowance, again has the mount.

Ruth Carr has her horses in excellent heart and the Stillington trainer can hit the target with SLEMY, who looks to be running into form.

Jimmy Sullivan's mount is fancied to make his presence felt in the Racing UK Day Pass Handicap.
