JOHN PARRY was today looking forward to a Major date after making the cut at the US Open.

The Knaresborough-born golfer fired a second round 73 as he reached mid-way point of the tournament, at Chambers Bay on the Pacific Northwest, at five-over-par.

It left him in tied-60th place, right on the cut-line, and will see him play today with 2007 US Open champion, and former Masters winner, Angel Cabrera.

Parry succeeded where other top names, such as defending champion Martin Kaymer and 2010 victor Graeme McDowell, failed by making the weekend.

Playing yesterday off the first tee, Parry bogeyed the third and sixth holes but picked up a shot at the eighth in an outward 37.

He recovered from a dropped shot at ten with a birdie at the 12th but consecutive bogeys at 16 and 17 made for a nervous final hole.

Parry got the par he needed and will tee off today with Cabrera, as the fourth group out, at 8.36am (4.36pm UK time).
