YORK City are still waiting to hear whether goalkeeper Michael Ingham will sign a new deal at Bootham Crescent.

The 34-year-old former Northern Ireland international is currently out of contract and entitled to a free transfer under the Bosman ruling.

City chief Russ Wilcox had originally given Ingham a deadline to commit to the club, which passed ten days ago.

But, in the meantime, the long-serving net-minder’s partner has given birth, with Wilcox now happy to wait until next week for a response.

Sky Bet League One outfit Oldham, who are now managed by Ingham’s former City team-mate Darren Kelly, are also understood to be interested in the ex-Sunderland and Wrexham keeper, with Wilcox saying: “He’s just had a baby so it’s all probably coming at a busy time for him and the offer is still there until June 12.

“He’s still thinking about things, but I’m sure we’ll have an answer soon.”

With Ingham spending long periods of the last two campaigns as second choice between the sticks and Jason Mooney on the transfer list, Wilcox added that he is still pursuing players in a position that he has prioritised for strengthening.

“We’re getting closer and conversations are taking place,” the City boss said. “We’ve got a couple of targets we are looking at, but they’re both away on holiday at the moment.

“We’re working hard to get fresh faces in but it’s still quite a difficult period because people are away on holiday. There’s still work being done though and I’m hoping to get a couple more players in the building soon.”

Wilcox went on to reiterate that City remain interested in bringing Middlesbrough right-back Brad Halliday in on loan again next season, following his 24 outings and one goal last term.

“Brad loved his time here and the only way we probably won’t get him back is if a League One club comes in for him and takes him on loan,” the Minstermen boss explained. “I would imagine, either way, Middlesbrough will be looking to get more experience into him.”

Elsewhere, City’s League Two rivals Accrington Stanley have signed ex-Liverpool striker Adam Morgan following his release from Yeovil.

Morgan, 21, made three senior appearances for the Anfield club.

Carlisle have also recruited defender David Atkinson from Middlesbrough following his loan spell at Brunton Park last term.
