TABLE-TOPPERS Selby fell to their first defeat of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division two north season at the hands of Clifton Alliance.

Selby batted first and posted 231-6 as their innings was held together by in-form Matt Hoyle, with 86.

In response, Hayden Bradley's 55 and an unbeaten 74 from Jaime Butt set Clifton Alliance on their way to victory.

York kept pace with the leading pack as they claimed a 76-run win at Londesborough Park.

Having been put in to bat, York had Toby Cleminson to thank as his knock of 78 underpinned a total of 198-8.

Chris Hunter (4-23) and Tom Spearman (3-24) had the hosts 122 all out.

Lowly Hovingham remain winless in after they fell to a disappointing seven-wicket defeat at Acomb.

A fine spell of bowling from Scott Nicholls (5-42) forced the visitors onto the back foot and their total of 136 all out never seemed enough.

Nicholls then struck an unbeaten 57 to guide his team home.

Duncombe Park’s Brian Leckenby hit 81 to help his side to a four-wicket win over Easingwold.

Earlier, Easingwold had posted 180 with Josh Sargent (44) top-scoring for the winless hosts as Jack Cranage took 3-33.

Leckenby then took centre stage.

Robert Taylor hit 100 for Ripon but his side were forced to settle for a draw with Thirsk.

Ripon made 217-5 and then Ben Crewe took 3-17 as Thirsk held on to secure a draw.

Second-placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge struggled to a draw against Harrogate.

The pacesetters could only manage 112-7 in pursuit of 210 after George Owram’s 74 for Harrogate.
