SESSAY increased the gap at the head of Hunters York & District Cricket League division one with victory over Malton & Old Malton.

For the second week running, Mark Wilkie turned in an excellent all-round performance for the leaders, following last week’s 5-1 he took 3-14.

He was one of a trio of bowlers to take three wickets, Stuart Peirse (3-32) and Richard Till (3-36) the others.

Shaun Harland (72) rescued the home side from 6-3 to eventually reach 143.

Wilkie (64) then top-scored as the visitors secured a third straight victory, winning by five wickets.

Bolton Percy replaced their opponents in the top four after emerging victorious at Pickering.

The visitors had Benedict Cook (81) and Buddhi Mirando (56) to thank for their total of 216-8, made despite the efforts of Isaac Christopher (5-37).

Peter Housman (4-36) and Danny White (3-37) shared the majority of the wickets as the home side were all out for 170 in reply.

Goole Town remain in second place, but they were unable to take the final two wickets which would have given them victory at home to Sewerby.

Oscar Sugden made 103 in a total of 251-9 and Sewerby replied with 178-8.

Driffield Town II made it back-to-back victories with a nine-wicket win over Folkton & Flixton to retain third place in the table.

Ben Dobson (108no) made his second century of the season as the visitors chased down 157 after good work from Rob Woodcock (4-40) and Jamie Greavson (3-21) had helped restrict the home side.

Harry Walmsley (29) top-scored but was one of four batsmen to reach 20 without being able to go on.

A half-century from Mark Murphy and 43 from Simon Webb were the stand out performances as Whitkirk won a low scoring encounter against Osbaldwick by 18 runs in the day’s closest finish.

James Smith (3-11) and Andrew Hall (3-30) looked to have put the visitors in control bowling out the home side for 129, but only Hall (25) was able to make an impression as his side was then bowled out for 111.

Beverley Town II secured their first win, beating hosts Bridlington by 42 runs. The visitors, led by Michael Cooke (85) and Brad Dobson (49), made 192-9 despite the efforts of Will Hall (5-39).

Casey Rudd (56) and Simon Leeson (31) gave the home side a shot at chasing down the target but eventually fell short against Peter Parnaby (3-13).
