MARK TISSIMAN collected a five-wicket haul as Londesborough Park swept Hovingham aside in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division two north.

Tissiman claimed 5-20 to rip through Hovingham’s batting line-up as the visitors were bowled out for only 50.

The hosts made a much better fist of things when they easily chased down their lowly target, with Phillip Stothard finishing 36 not out in a nine-wicket victory.

Matt Hoyle continued his fine early season form as he helped Selby to collect back-to-back wins.

Hoyle, who completed a ton last week, fell just four runs short of making it two in eight days but his 96 was enough to help his side to an eight-wicket victory over Acomb.

Earlier, Acomb posted 182-7, with Scott Nicholls and James Fletcher both scoring half-centuries.

Duncombe Park recorded their first win of the season as they edged past York III by three wickets.

James Skelton was the man-of-the-match as he bagged a four-wicket haul and then hit 48 as his side chased down their target.

York had posted 185-7 as Toby Giddins top-scored with 40 and Ben Harris added late impetus with an unbeaten 35.

Duncombe Park batsman Brian Leckenby followed up his knock of 66 last weekend with a 71 as he guided his side home alongside the impressive Skelton.

Ripon and Clifton Alliance II played out an entertaining draw at Shipton Road as the hosts fell 40 runs short of victory.

Having been invited to bat first, Ripon posted a competitive total of 222-5, Ben Crewe top-scoring with an unbeaten 49.

Clifton were never in with a shout of victory, with Joshua Blades’ three-wicket haul keeping the hosts quiet and reducing Clifton to 182-7.

Matthew Phillips and his tail-enders held on to take a share of the spoils.

Newly-promoted Sheriff Hutton Bridge II fell agonisingly short of making it two wins out of two as they were left frustrated by a brave Thirsk last-wicket stand.

Having set a competitive total of 231-5 declared from 40 overs thanks to 50 from Nick Scaling and 46 by Michael Smith.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge took control with the ball, Tom Magee and Harry Sutcliffe both claiming three-wicket hauls.

They were left disappointed as they were forced to settle for a draw as they struggled to remove a stubborn final pair.

As reported in The Press yesterday, Harrogate II skipper Andy Hawkswell smashed 31 fours and 12 sixes on his way to 265 not out against Easingwold – a league record as his side hit a mammoth 345 without loss off 35 overs.

Hawkswell beat the previous high of 234 set by Marcus Johnson in 2010.

However, the batsman-friendly surface allowed Easingwold to hold on for the draw, with Max Cosgrove hitting an unbeaten 98.

Pock's Chaplins take centre stage with bat and ball

THE Chaplins had a day to remember in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division two south as Pocklington hammered Driffield Town III by 148 runs.

John Chaplin hit a fine 71 in his side’s 232 as he was well supported by Andrew Anderson (41).

Then Dave Chaplin took centre stage as he produced a devastating spell of 4-8 to skittle Driffield Town for only 84.

An unbeaten 105 from Paul Clappison helped Hornsea to a three-wicket win over Rowntrees & Huntington.

Chasing 235, the opener carried his bat in hitting 15 fours in a 95-minute stay.

Earlier, Rowntrees & Huntington had fifties from opener Nick Johnson and Tom Shaw as they set a tricky looking target.

Patrington claimed their first win of the season with a low- scoring nine-wicket victory over Dringhouses.

Having been put into bat, the visitors could only post a below-par total of 129 all out, with Michael Kenyon top scoring on 30.

Patrington made light work of their target, taking only 17.4 overs to race to victory.

Heworth and Tadcaster Magnet played out a draw in a close finish, with Heworth falling only nine runs short of victory, while rain put paid to the game between Hull Zingari and Woodhouse Grange.
