TADCASTER Albion were forced to settle for a third-placed finish in the Northern Counties East League premier division after closing their campaign with a 2-1 defeat by Worksop Town.
Worksop’s Ings Lane victory earned them second place behind title winners Shaw Lane Aquaforce, who head for the Evo-Stik League on the back of a 9-0 thrashing of bottom side Glasshoughton Welfare.
The Brewers took the lead against Worksop courtesy of Calum Ward’s 32nd minute penalty.
However, the visitors were level at the interval after Connor Sellars also scored from the spot, and the same player conjured the winner from a free-kick eight minutes into the second period.
The home side pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, hitting the bar and causing a scramble in the Worksop area without managing to find the net.
Selby Town finished 11th in division one after a 2-2 draw at Bottesford Town.
Chris Jackson gave the Robins a second minute lead, but goals from Bottesford’s Wayne Graves and Craig Bridge meant Selby needed an 88th minute goal from Matty Turnbull to salvage a point.
Knaresborough Town, in 12th place, lost 2-1 at home to Hall Road Rangers. The visitors scored twice in the opening seven minutes before Matthew Pascal pulled a goal back with 12 minutes remaining.
