NEW Earswick All Blacks ARLC secured a third-placed finish in Pennine League Championship One with a 30-14 win at King Cross Park.

The visitors took the lead after six minutes when man of the match Jack Hodgson crossed, with Tom Holmes converting.

King Cross fought back with an unconverted try, but quick ball down the line created space for New Earswick’s Pete Ritchie to cross with his first touch of the ball and Holmes goaled for a 12-4 half-time lead.

The All Blacks extended their lead in the first minute of the second half, Hodgson going over for his second try for Holmes to convert.

Holmes added a penalty and then added the conversion to his own try.

King Cross scored two tries, converting one, but New Earswick’s victory was assured when Alex Wilkins crossed for an unconverted try.

Top performer Hodgson was backed up well by Sam Cooper and Wilkins.
