YORK City boss Russ Wilcox is hoping Grimsby Town can win promotion to League Two.

The Mariners, who include on-loan Minstermen stalwart Dan Parslow in their ranks, guaranteed their participation in the Conference play-offs ahead of the end of the regular season this weekend.

With Yeovil definitely coming down from League One and either Barnet and Bristol Rovers going up as Conference champions, with Eastleigh and Forest Green in the play-off frame, Wilcox is keen to gain a welcome northern fixture.

“Dan will be involved in the play-offs with Grimsby and I wish him all the best,” said Wilcox.

“I hope they do well because it would be a decent fixture for York City.

“We will already be playing a lot of southern clubs, so I would prefer Grimsby to come up rather than Eastleigh or Forest Green.
