AWAY-DAY specialists Morecambe will arrive at York City having only lost one of their last ten games on the road, writes Dave Flett.

Jim Bentley’s men have beaten League Two leaders Burton on their travels this term and also claimed the scalps of other top-nine hosts Bury, Southend, Newport and Luton, along with that of big-spending higher-division neighbours Fleetwood in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

The Shrimps’ only loss away from home since December 20 came during a 2-1 defeat at Northampton.

A total of eight wins, meanwhile, means the coastal club have picked up three more points than at their Globe Arena during the 2014/15 campaign.

Morecambe take on the Minstermen having also gone five games undefeated, enjoying back-to-back wins against Portsmouth (3-1) and Bury (2-1) following a hat-trick of consecutive draws.

That sequence means Bentley’s 12th-placed team still have an outside shot at reaching the play-offs, although time is against them in their bid to bridge a seven-point gap with four fixtures left to play.

Midfielder Ryan Williams (hernia) and first-choice keeper Barry Roche (hip) will remain sidelined for this evening’s encounter.

Roche has been out since this season’s first game between the two clubs in October. Although he is on the verge of returning following surgery, on-loan 21-year-old Liverpool shot-stopper Danny Ward will carry on between the sticks having started the last four games.

Skipper and centre-back Mark Hughes remains a doubt, as does fellow defender Alan Goodall. Both have hamstring injuries.

Despite Saturday’s victory over Pompey, Bentley could still change his attack where 36-year-old veteran Kevin Ellison and Jack Redshaw are in contention to replace rookie Paul Mullin as the in-form Padraig Amond’s partner.

The Irish forward has netted three times in his last four matches, taking his season’s tally to ten - one behind Ellison and Redshaw.

Meanwhile, Morecambe’s win over Portsmouth prompted Pompey to part company with boss Andy Awford yesterday.

Gary Waddock will be in charge for the last four games, including City’s trip to Fratton Park on May 2, the last day of the season.

Morecambe (probable): Ward, Beeley, Edwards, Parrish, Wilson, Kenyon, Fleming, Wildig, Devitt, Amond, Ellison.
