HARTLEPOOL United could recall former Premier League striker Marlon Harewood for tomorrow’s Sky Bet League Two crunch clash at York City.

Harewood, who commanded a £4 million transfer fee when he moved from West Ham to Aston Villa eight years ago, has not started any of Pool’s last six games having failed to net in his last 16 outings - a run stretching back to late November.

The 35-year-old forward has only scored twice all season but is set to lead the line against the Minstermen should on-loan Preston frontman Jordan Hugill be ruled out with the eye injury that saw him suffer blurred vision just six minutes into Monday’s 1-0 home defeat to Southend.

If Hugill is unavailable, Harewood would line up alongside six-goal leading marksman Jonathan Franks, who has fired blanks in his last 13 matches.

Hartlepool’s only other injury casualty is York-born midfielder Michael Woods.

The former Chelsea hopeful, who is the grandson of former City midfielder Alan and nephew of ex-Bootham Crescent striker Neil, suffered a dislocated ankle and fractured fibula in February.

City will face another familiar face, however, with one-time, youth-team scholar Michael Duckworth, who is now 22, lining up as a midfielder for the visitors in manager Ronnie Moore’s 3-5-2 formation.

Duckworth, who started the season at right-back, has made more outfield appearances (36) than any other player aside from Neil Austin this term and has hit the target three times.

Striker Scott Fenwick and defender Matthew Bates could make the bench after making midweek appearances for the reserves following their respective ankle and thigh problems.

Hartlepool, whose recent run of four consecutive wins lifted them off the bottom of the table, currently hover one point above the relegation zone.

Since ex-Rotherham, Tranmere and Oldham chief Moore took over in mid-December, the club have displayed top-ten form but have still lost more games (23), scored the fewest goals (33) and boast the worst goal difference (-23) in the division.

The Victoria Park club have, however, taken seven points from a possible nine on the road, drawing 2-2 at Newport on Good Friday following victories against Oxford (2-0) and Morecambe (1-0).

Hartlepool (probable): Flinders, Mirfin, Jones, Harrison, Austin, Duckworth, Featherstone, Tshibola, Walker, Harewood, Franks
