STATION upset newly-crowned York Sunday Morning Football League division one champions Wigginton Grasshoppers, defeating them 4-3.

Will Ramsay put Station ahead with a 20-yard free-kick before doubling the lead after half an hour.

After the break Jamie Willstrop reduced the deficit, but Gary Collier quickly restored Station’s two-goal advantage.

Collier then cracked in a sublime volley before a late Wigginton rally saw Jordan Holt head home and Willstrop double his tally.

Leon Wood scored for Bubwith White Swan as they went down 3-1 at home to second placed Dunnington.

In division two, York Nomads edged closer to the title with a 6-1 victory over Snaith.

Nomads led 1-0 at the break through Liam Wingfield, but their scorer was injured shortly afterwards.

Chris Dyson went on to notch four goals before Nathan Bradley completed the scoring.

Marcia Grey recovered from a poor display the previous week to smash Hambleton 8-1.

Steve Abbott struck from the edge of the box after just two minutes and Darren Smith increased Marcia’s lead soon after.

Hambleton then made it 2-1 before Alex Day struck to give the home side a 3-1 half-time lead.

The second period was all one-way traffic and Paul Harris fired home Marcia’s fourth from 18 yards before adding his second from the penalty spot.

Harris completed his hat-trick direct from a corner before Darren Smith hit a rocket to make it 7-1.

Ryan Day, aged 16, produced a neat finish to round off the eight-goal spree.

Britannia Tadcaster edged a 3-2 win at third-placed NUR despite fierce resistance from the home side.

Britannia took a 1-0 lead into the second half before Danny Cotton clipped his shot over the onrushing keeper to level.

Tadcaster again took the lead but Nicky Fletcher fired home from a tight angle to make it all-square once more before a late Britannia goal secured all three points.

York Wanderers’ 3-1 win at Marcia Bishopthorpe in division three means that one more victory from Cliffe will be enough for the Selby side to secure the title.

Neil Fraser put York Wanderers ahead in the first half, and Craig Nichol and Joe Evans added goals in the second period.

Tom Kilvington twice produced confident finishes from the penalty spot as Haxby United gained a 5-3 success against in-form York Phoenix.

Rich Burnett and Matt Boggan also scored in the win.
