TADCASTER Albion’s title challenge took another knock as a late Athersley Recreation equaliser denied them a crucial win in the Northern Counties East League premier division.

Without a win in seven games in all competitions, the 1-1 draw leaves the Brewers - who included former Manchester United star Jonathan Greening in their line-up - ten points behind leaders Worksop Town with two games in hand.

Josh Greening put the Ings Lane hosts in front on 38 minutes, but Athersley’s Daniel Joynes grabbed a share of the spoils with his goal six minutes from time.

Pickering Town were 3-2 winners at Staveley Miners Welfare.

Ross Goodwin gave the home side the lead on 23 minutes, but the Pikes levelled through Ryan Cooper on 32 minutes and then took the lead through Sam Calvert’s 62nd-minute goal.

Andrew Simpson got a third four minutes from time before Lee Whittington pulled one back for the hosts in the last minute.

A trio of first-half goals earned Selby Town a 3-0 victory at Hallam in division one.

Craig Muirhead opened the scoring on nine minutes and he add a second on 25 minutes, two minutes after Ashley Hope had netted a second.

Knaresborough Town trounced visiting Lincoln Moorlands 5-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Mitchell Hamilton, plus goals from Nick Radcliffe and Bradley Walker.

Two second half goals were enough to sink Harrogate Town as Colwyn Bay left Wetherby Road with a 2-0 win in Conference North.

Former York City full-back Mark Robinson hit a last minute leveller as Whitby Town drew 3-3 at Halesowen Town in the Evo-Stik League premier division.

In division one north, Harrogate Railway Athletic drew 0-0 at home to Kendal Town.

Promotion-chasing Scarborough Athletic went down 2-1 at home to Bamber Bridge, who netted a goal in each half before Ryan Blott’s last minute effort for the hosts.
