IN-FORM Kirkbymoorside edged closer to the York Minster Engineering Football League division three crown after a 9-0 demolition of Moor Lane.

Alex Strickland smartly led the way with a stunning haul of seven goals with his strike partner Jason Brown weighing in with the other two goals to maintain a healthy seven-point advantage at the top The nearest challengers remain Stamford Bridge, who had a John Cavanagh double-strike to thank for overcoming hosts Crayke 2-1.

Daniel Cornish, Paul Moran and Charles Duffy struck for third-placed South Milford their 3-2 win over Jorvik Blades. Ben Spedding and Callum Atkin replied.

In division four, leaders Bubwith were held to a 2-2 draw in the first match of their double header with Wheldrake. Will Nicholson grabbed both Bubwith goals with Tom Anderson and Will Freeman finding the target for the away side.

The second game between the two sides ended in a 4-1 win for Bubwith thanks to goals from Henry Robinson, Jamie Sedman, Jake Marshall and an own goal. James Walton replied.

Cawood moved up to second with an 8-1 rout of LNER Builders.

Matthew Ward hit four of their goals, with James Darlison and Michael Goldsworthy grabbing a pair apiece. Gary Hardcastle was the Builders’ hitman.

Wetherby Athletic lost ground on the leaders after being held 2-2 at home to Huntington WMC, the visitors’ goals coming from Jamie Kirby and Callum Hannigan.

Luke Smith scored for Huntington at Settrington, but the hosts bagged the points from a 2-1 win.
