ONLY second-bottom Cheltenham Town have gone longer without a League Two victory than York City’s opponents tomorrow Exeter.

The Grecians have not won any of their last six matches, taking only three points from a possible 18, while Cheltenham have racked up eight fixtures without a success.

It is a run that has seen the Devon club fall from play-off contention into the bottom half of the table and has coincided with 19-year-old midfielder Matt Grimes’ lucrative £1.75 million move to Premier League Swansea at the start of the transfer window.

In total, Exeter have only picked up maximum points from one of their last ten outings – a 3-2 triumph at Mansfield on January 17, although Paul Tisdale’s team remain 12 points clear of the rel - egation zone.

Conceding goals has been Tisdale’s biggest headache this term with the team having only kept three clean sheets all season against Cheltenham, Carlisle and Morecambe.

The Grecians are currently on a run of ten matches without a shut-out and defender Pat Baldwin has been sorely missed after picking up a serious knee injury in September that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the campaign.

Despite being an ever-present this season, 37-year-old veteran Matt Oakley – a former Southampton and Leicester favourite - is also under pressure for his starting place at the back following a poor performance during last weekend’s 3-1 derby-day defeat to Plymouth and Exeter’s goals-against tally of 48 is the fourth-highest tally in the division behind Carlisle (56), Hartlepool (54) and Accrington (51).

But only table-topping Burton (23) and Wycombe (26) have scored more than the 21 League Two goals the St James’ Park outfit (21) have managed on the road this term and a return of 22 away points is also the fourth-biggest haul in the division behind Wycombe (33), Southend (27) and Burton (24).

In attack, 21-year-old Tom Nicholls is top scorer with 11 goals but he has only netted once in his last six matches. Ex-Republic of Ireland and Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison, meanwhile, is yet to open his account for Exeter in a dozen outings.

The 35-year-old forward, who once cost Birmingham City £4.25 million, was released last season by Colchester and was playing in the Midland League for Long Eaton United before Tisdale signed him on non-contract terms in November.

Aside from Baldwin, midfielder David Noble is ruled out with a hamstring strain. Left-back Craig Woodman is doubtful after limping off at half-time against Plymouth.

Fellow full-back, experienced 35-year-old Danny Butterfield, is expected to return from injury.

Exeter (probable): Pym, Butterfield, Moore-Taylor, Bennett, Ribeiro, Oakley, Harley, Sercombe, Davies, T Nicholls, Morrison.
