AMBITIOUS Team York Suzuki motorcycle racing outfit have followed a Classic TT races coup with a coastal challenge.

The team, which was founded by former rider Kevin Pearson and has annually tackled the Classic meeting on the Isle of Man over the past four years, has confirmed a second top recruit.

Top Irish motorcycle champion Ryan Farquhar will pilot the team’s machine at the Oliver’s Mount circuit in Scarborough during the summer.

With more than 200 victories under his belt, including international and TT triumphs, Farquhar is one of the most successful racers to come out of the British Isles.

Farquhar impressed for Team York over the twisting Oliver’s Mount circuit last October, bagging several F1 Classic wins and also against more modern motorbikes.

The Irish ace will combine riding for Team York with also helming his own team bikes, the Kawasaki ZX10 Superbike and 650 Supertwin in preparation for his return to the international circuit from which he retired two years ago after a family tragedy.

Team owner Pearson said: “Ryan’s knowledge will be invaluable to the team as we build up to our ultimate goal of trying to win the Classic F1 TT in August.”

The recruitment of Farquhar follows in the slipstream of Team York Suzuki last revealing how they had signed up Australian star David Johnson to pilot their entry in the Motorsport Merchandise Formula One race at the Classic meeting on the Isle of Man.

Adelaide-based Johnson, who is aged 31, made his TT debut just under five years ago winning the coveted Newcomers Trophy in 2010.

Riding for the Team York Suzuki/ Big Dog Classic Racing outfit, Johnson will be making his Classic TT bow.
