LEADING duo Riccall United and Old Malton St Mary’s came out on top as the four York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title contenders squared up.

Riccall, who are three points clear of their Ryedale rivals but have played two games more, were 5-2 winners at ten-man Tadcaster Magnets, who lost two on the bounce for the first time this season.

Wayne Brook (2), Will Ramsay, Ian Beckram and Chris Coxon orchestrated the downfall of Magnets, who replied through goals from Adam Field and Sam Harrison having lost keeper Jordan Tinker to a red card.

Old Malton St Mary’s maintained their pursuit of Riccall with a 2-1 defeat of third-placed Dunnington thanks to a brace from Tom Hoggard. Jonny Andrews hit the visitors’ consolation.

Wigginton maintained fourth spot with a comfortable 5-0 triumph over Harrison Signs.

Matt Tiplady, Jamie Willstrop and Luke Hall combined to give the home side a 3-0 half-time lead, before Tiplady doubled his tally with a superb aerial effort. Tom Metcalfe completed the scoring with a header.

Huntington also gained an effortless three points at the expense of Easingwold Town, who were relegated to dvision one by their 8-0 defeat. Chris Dyson picked up a hat-trick, with Gary Newton (2), Lee Bunce, Jon James and Joe Milner completing the rout.

Copmanthorpe scored an impressive 2-1 victory over Church Fenton White Horse after a hard- fought game. John Patrick gave the home side a half-time lead before Danny Leach’s second-half strike proved decisive.

Ninth-placed Dringhouses moved four points clear of Osbaldwick, in tenth, with a 5-1 demolition of their rivals.

Chris Bilham gave Osbaldwick the lead early on, before Sam Ripley-Kitson struck to send the sides in level at half-time.

The second half was one-way traffic, though, with James Robinson, Wilson Briggs (2) and Cameron Mulhearn hitting the target.

Danny Cates (2), Liam Stilgoe and Mike MacKenzie fired home to give York RI a 4-0 success over Terrington Glory.

In division one, F1 Racing moved another step closer to top flight status with an 11-1 annihilation of Hamilton Panthers.

F1 dominated throughout and led 5-0 at the break and the second half followed a similar pattern, although Panthers scored on the break. The F1 haul came courtesy of strikes from Neil Yeowart (4), George Trifan (2), Chris Dempsey, Jason McCloud, Adam Tiffany, Andy Proctor and Jericho Keys.

A Steve Twamley goal was enough to keep Malton & Norton in second spot as they saw off Total Sports 1-0.

Marcus Godsell struck a hat-trick for Brooklyn as they ran out 4-2 winners over St Clement’s. Andrew Metcalfe grabbed Brooklyn’s fouth.

A Gaz Fisher screamer gave Heslington a 1-0 victory at Tockwith, while Craig Allen was on target as Heslington drew 1-1 at Pocklington.
