YORK trainer Mel Brittain, who came narrowly unstuck last week at Southwell with Generous Dream, returns his mare to the same course this afternoon seeking to gain quick compensation.

Generous Dream is on the comeback trail. She was off the course for ten months until making an unplaced return to action at Catterick in October and that outing clearly benefited her as she failed by only a head to catch Enzaal on her next outing here, five days ago. She stayed on strongly in that contest and looked as though she would have won in another few strides.

Pat McDonald again takes the mount on Generous Dream in today’s Racing Specials At 32RedSport.com Handicap over the same distance of one and three-quarter miles. A bold bid is anticipated from the Warthill mare.

Paul Mulrennan, who, having notched his maiden century of winners on this course last month, has recently taken part in an international jockeys’ challenge in Mauritius, where he rode two winners and just missed out on receiving a gold-studded whip for being the individual champion.

The North Yorkshire rider is now back in domestic action and he can win the opening 32Red Irish Stallion Farms Maiden Stakes on What Could She Be, trained by Bryan Smart.

The juvenile filly has had two outings to date, a creditable third-placed effort at Doncaster and a respectable sixth on her all-weather debut at Kempton.

There is every chance there is more come from her and, although she now has to cope with the slower Fibresand surface, What Could She Be is fancied to make it third time lucky.

Nap selection Miniskirt could be the answer to the All New 32RedSport.com Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.

Trained at Newmarket by Rae Guest, who does particularly well with fillies, Miniskirt finished a good second to Rightway, beaten only a length and a half, at Wolverhampton last time out. This race will not take an awful lot of winning and the three-year-old has strong credentials on the evidence of her three starts.

The featured Ladbrokes Handicap looks a real head-scratcher for punters, but Westminster, the mount of Hayley Turner, promises to go well for Michael Appleby, also represented by Starfield, a course winner two outings ago.

Both Appleby runners have chances, but preference is for Westminster, a former John Gosden inmate, who has had only two runs for his new handler and has shaped reasonably well at Wolverhampton and Kempton. He could step up on that performance now switched to Southwell, where he won last year.

Also worth noting are Extreme Supreme (3.00), now visored for the first time and the mount of Malton jockey Paddy Mathers, and the penalised Royal Marskell (3.30), both winners on the course on their latest outings.

At Exeter, Malton-born Andrew Tinkler has good prospects of riding a winner in the colours of the Queen aboard Open Hearted in the Kingsteignton Motors Graduation Chase.

Trained by Nicky Henderson, Open Hearted was confined to only two starts last season, winning at Bangor on his reappearance before finishing second at Newbury. He seems to go well fresh and although he faces two useful rivals, he has strong claims receiving 7lb from the pair.

Philip Hobbs and Richard Johnson, going great guns this season, can complete an Exeter double with Pull The Chord and Trickaway.

Pull The Chord, who lines up in the Connolly’s Red Mills Handicap Hurdle Qualifier, was a 12-length winner on his latest outing over this course and distance. He has been raised 9lb to a mark of 124 for this handicap, but this lightly-raced gelding may be ahead of the handicapper.

Trickaway is also up 9lb for his latest Wincanton win which was achieved by six lengths. He should go well in the Rewards4Racing Handicap Chase on a course where he has winning form.

Also worthy of attention are winning point-to-pointer Nitrogen (12.50), back from a lengthy absence and representing the in-form Harry Fry, and the Andrew Balding-trained Queen’s Star (3.20).
