OLD Malton St Mary’s maintained their four-point lead at the top of the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division after a 4-0 victory over York Railway Institute.

Dunnington kept the leaders in their sights however, with a 3-2 win over Copmanthorpe thanks to goals from Ben Small, Dan Andrew and Scott Sullivan. Jake Moyse and Danny Leach were on target for the visitors.

Tadcaster Magnets, who are enjoying an extremely successful debut season in the top flight, took yet another notable scalp with a 2-0 triumph at Riccall United.

Robert McDermid and substitute Sam Harrison struck for Magnets, who can overtake Saints at the top if they win all of their games in hand.

Eddy Clapham scored a 20 yard free-kick in injury time to bring ‘Hoppers to within one, but the home side held on for the points.

A John Marshall penalty gave Church Fenton White Horse a half-time lead at Dringhouses.

Two early errors saw F1 fall behind to goals from Luke Zacharenko and Mike Brown before Chris Dempsey scored the goal of the game to reduce the deficit.

In the second half, F1 tried to push on to recover lost ground but were caught on the break as Brown added a third and Zacharenko struck twice to complete his hat-trick.

Second-placed Malton and Norton were also beaten, going down 3-1 at derby rivals Brooklyn.

Mike Brown matched his namesake at Hemingbrough by bagging a brace on the day, with Matty Webster adding Brooklyn’s third.

York St John celebrated reaching the half-way point of their season with a 9-2 victory over Hamilton Panthers that sees them take fourth place.
