GREG MINIKIN has echoed boss James Ford’s sentiments about York City Knights’ problematic pre-season - that it’s building camaraderie in the camp.
Legal disputes between the club and City of York Council stemming from issues with the community stadium project have meant the team, having moved out of Huntington Stadium, have not been able to train as planned at the York St John University sports facility on Haxby Road.
Instead they have had to flit between there, Manor School’s Astroturf pitch and partner club Castleford’s indoor facilities, as well as doing gym work in their own time.
Ford said the squad were treating the disruption “as a challenge and it’s bringing them closer together”.
Minikin, the 19-year-old prodigy, went one step further. He said: “It’s a bit annoying having to go to different grounds to train but it’s not too bad and we’re getting good sessions in.
“We’re all buying into it and, to be honest, the spirit is absolutely great, just like it was last year.
“It’s one of the best times I’ve had - I’m loving it.”
