JUSTIN HOBSON lifted the division one trophy at the Edinburgh Arms York Darts League finals night.

Hobson, in his first season in division one, beat Mark Hartley 7-1 in the semi-finals and then beat John Quantock 8-6 in the final.

Hartley took the first leg of the semi-final in 19 darts, but Hobson reeled off seven legs in a row including two 15-darters and a 16-dart leg, plus a 108 finish to clinch the match with a three-dart average of 84.25.

The other semi-final saw defending champion Quantock oust league topper Rich Corner 7-6.

Corner opened with a 13-darter and forged into a 3-0 lead, but Quantock pulled back to 3-3 and the pair traded legs to set up a decider.

A 140 gave Quantock the edge and he won it with a 17-dart leg and an overall average of 80.96.

Quantock started the final in fine style, hitting 14 and 16-dart legs to go 3-0 up, but Hobson responded to level with a 15-dart leg and a 104 finish.

Legs of 15 and 16 darts plus a 120 checkout saw Quantock open up a 6-3 advantage, but Hobson hit three 180s in four magnificent legs of 19, 16, 13 and 17 darts to go 7-6 ahead.

After opening the next with yet another 180, Hobson fired in a 17-darter to take the title with an 84.74 average. Quantock averaged 81.13.

The division two final was a tight affair between Mark Gale and Dean Cairns.

Gale went 5-3 up assisted by a brilliant 15-darter, but a clinical 88 finish from Cairns made it 5-5.

The next four legs were shared to set up a deciding leg at 7-7 and Gale hit a 140 and 177, leaving himself 24 after just 12 darts.

He missed his next three, but then took out double six for a 16-dart leg for the title.

Adam Wise lifted the division three trophy with an 8-5 victory over Wayne Allen.

A 4-0 lead gave Wise the perfect platform, but Allen hit back to eventually level at 5-5, including a 16-darter.

Allen missed key doubles in the next two legs as Wise move 7-5 ahead and, with victory in his grasp, he powered in a 180 on his way to an 18-darter to seal it in style.
