IT WAS business as usual at the top of division one of the SLT FM Solutions Ltd York and District Table Tennis League with pacesetters Coneysthorpe ‘A’ and York RI ‘A’ both registering emphatic 9-1 victories.

Coneysthorpe were too strong for Clarence ‘A’, although Aidan Ranftler played well to defeat Ashley Hodgson.

Milo Cupik played superbly to pick up the sole point for Clarence ‘B’ against York RI ‘A’ by overcoming Filip Wojtkowiak.

Nathan Taylor continued his good start at this level, as partnered by Jonathan Wooldridge, he led Bootham ‘A’ to a 7-3 triumph over York RI ‘B’, while University ‘A’ posted their first win of the season as a treble from Isaac Beevor was sufficient to ensure a close 6-4 win over Coneysthorpe ‘B’.

In division two, new boys Wetherby Sports Association registered their first victory of the season with a 7-3 defeat of Bootham ‘D’, Neil Lynch and Ian Hilton too strong. Mike Wheatley and Rob Farmery put in a battling performance for a depleted Tramways team, and despite a maximum from Ian Williams were able to secure a 5-5 draw against Shepherds ‘A’.

Mike Cooper and Rachel Greener were in top form for Bootham ‘B’ in a 9-1 thrashing of University ‘B’, while the struggling Shepherds ‘B’ were shown no mercy by Bootham ‘C’ in a 10-0 whitewash.

Andy Fletcher remains unbeaten this season for York RI ‘C’ and a treble from him was required to see off a tenacious York RI ‘D’ 6-4.

Despite an unbeaten performance from Stephen Temple, Ryedale@RI slumped to a 6-4 defeat against York RI ‘E’ for whom Mikey Arnold and debutant Adam Ridley contributed two wins each.

In division three, Bob Young was on top form as he steered his depleted Clarence ‘C’ to a battling 6-4 victory over Shepherds ‘C’. Jan Suchecki and Pete Corner were undefeated in division three as Bootham ‘E’ posted a 7-3 victory over York RI ‘G’, while BT ‘A’ had a resounding 8-2 triumph over Burnholme ‘B’ with Howard Broadbent untroubled. Bootham ‘F’ dispatched a two man Crescent ‘E’ 7-3 and a depleted Clarence ‘D’ were thrashed 8-2 by Burnholme ‘A’.

York RI ‘H’ are favourites for the division four crown and they underlined this with a 9-1 thrashing of Trustmarque, while an experienced Crescent ‘F’ defeated University ‘C’ 7-3 to register their second win of the season.
