YORK CITY striker Clayton Donaldson has signed a pre-contract agreement to join Scottish Premier League side Hibernian next season - and the Minstermen won't get a penny in transfer fees.

Hibernian's website confirms the 20-goal front man will join them at the start of next season and the club says that, as he will be 23 next month, they will not have to pay a fee under FIFA regulations.

That will be devastating news for City, who have turned down a number of bids for Donaldson - including £100,000 from League Two side Peterborough and a "significant" offer from League One outfit Scunthorpe United.

Hibernian's statement reads: "The club have today confirmed that York City striker, Clayton Donaldson, has signed a pre-contract to join Hibernian at the start of next season.

"The player is out of contract with York City at the end of the season and, as he will be 23 years of age next month, he will join the club without the requirement to pay a fee."
