BONDI BEACH BOY, winner of seven races last season, is on another winning roll and can complete a hat-trick of wins this afternoon at Ripon's final meeting of the season.

The North Yorkshire gelding, the star of James Turner's small stable, runs in the SIS LIve Handicap and will be ridden by George Chaloner, the Norton apprentice, who is now only four winners shy of joining the fully-fledged ranks.

Bondi Beach Boy has taken time to find his form this term, but he is in rude health at the moment, having won at Beverley last week and Pontefract earlier this week, with Chaloner in the saddle on both occasions.

Turner is clearly keen to strike while the iron is hot with the five-year-old. He will be hard to beat under a penalty.

Chaloner could enjoy a good afternoon. He also rides Character Onesie for his boss Richard Fahey in the Irish Stallion EBF Maiden Stakes. The juvenile shaped well to finish third on his debut at Chester and is well drawn in this six furlong event.

The Ripon Cathedral City Of The Dales Handicap over six furlongs is the target of Spinatrix, who is aiming to make it third-time-lucky after finishing runner-up on her last two outings.

Both those efforts were hugely creditable. Michael Dods' mare was beaten only half-a-length by Out Do in the Great St Wilfrid Handicap here and then went down by only a neck to Valonia in a Listed race at Pontefract the very next day. She will be a tough nut to crack if able to reproduce her best form under Connor Beasley, who knows her well.

Also worthy of attention at Ripon are the promising Laidback Romeo (3.20) and Bayan Kasirga (4.30), who went down fighting in third place at Ayr last week.

At Newmarket, the £160,000 Betfred Cambridgeshire Handicap is the usual head-scratcher for punters. With 35 runners thundering down the straight nine furlongs course, this is a race which is as competitive as they come, and which is etched with pitfalls.

Cam Hardie, whose father, Willie, is head lad to Tim Easterby, has already enjoyed a wonderful year. The 5lb claimer has every chance of crowning his campaign by winning this famous handicap on Velox, trained by Luca Cumani.

The four-year-old shaped well at Doncaster a couple of weeks ago when third behind Championship Day and Bronze Angel. With Hardie's allowance coming into play, Velox has as good a chance as any and a better one than most. He is sportingly napped to take the honours.

The Group 1 Connolly's Red Mills Cheveley Park Stakes has attracted Tiggy Wiggy and Anthem Alexander, who finished first and second respectively in last month's Lowther Stakes at York.

Tiggy Wiggy was fairly dominant that day and it will either take her to run slightly below-par or Anthem Alexander to raise her game for the placings to be reversed. Richard Hughes, as usual, takes the mount on Tiggy Wiggy in a race in which North Yorkshire interest is centred on Zuhoor Baynoona, who looked useful earlier in the season and makes her first appearance for more than four months.

Middleham trainer Karl Burke has a high opinion of Lord Ben Stack, who looked a horse with a bright future when getting off the mark at his second attempt at Haydock three weeks ago.

Lord Ben Stack takes a step up in class in the Group 2 Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes, but he is plainly a colt not to be underestimated.

Also worth noting are the hat-trick seeking Rosalie Bonheur (2.00), the mount of Paul Hanagan, and King Torus (5.35), the mount of Frankie Dettori and one of two rides the former champion jockey has on the card for Stillington trainer Ruth Carr. Dettori also teams up with Fort Bastion for Carr in the Cambridgeshire Handicap.
