DAVE RICARDO has hailed Selby Town’s start to the Northern Counties East League division one campaign.

The Robins picked up a useful draw at high-flying Hemsworth Miners Welfare on Tuesday night, Dane Mortimer equalising 60 seconds after Jason Yates had given the home side a 48th minute lead.

The 1-1 draw sees them in the top six and Ricardo’s young outfit are on their travels again tomorrow - to a struggling Winterton Rangers team he starred for in his playing days.

“We are confident we can go and get the three points,” Ricardo said.

“The surface will suit us. I was there my self for about six years and we won the premier division and had a good spell there. They have been going through some hard times the last two or three years.

“We are in a good position. There are plenty of games still to play. There is room for improvement but we are on the right lines and I have got a squad I am really happy with.

“There are one or two still to come in. We have got one of the better quality squads in the league.

“It is just a case of getting on a run - winning the games we should be winning and making sure we don’t lose the tricky ones.

“We are quite a young team.”

Knaresborough Town entertain Bottesford Town in NCEL division one while, in Conference North, Harrogate Town bid to bounce back from a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Solihull Moors when they go to Leamington FC.

Harrogate Town travel to Prescot Cables and Scarborough Athletic welcome Burscough in the first division north of the Evo-Stik League.
