SUMMER recruit Josh Greening continued his searing start with Tadcaster Albion to push the team’s challenge for honours.

Greening was the hero for the Brewers when he struck a second-half hat-trick in a 3-0 triumph at Handsworth Parramore.

After a blank first-half, Albion took control when their free- flowing football was rewarded with a brace of goals from Greening in the space of three minutes mid-way through the second half.

Four minutes from time the impressive Greening notched his third goal to complete his triple treat.

Elsewhere in the top-flight, Greening’s old club Pickering Town shared the honours in a 1-1 draw at Thackley.

The hosts went ahead as early as the tenth minute through Mark Tyreman, but any fears that the Pikes would suffer another defensive collapse disappeared when Sam Calvert bagged a leveller ten minutes before half-time.

Selby Town’s fluent opening to the NCEL first division campaign continued with a 2-1 win over Hall Road Rangers.

By the 35th minute the Robins were two goals to the good through Jamie Forrester and Dan Bunch. But the concession of a goal from the visitors just after the hour mark ensured there was a nervy feeling among the home crowd until the final whistle sounded.

North Yorkshire’s two representatives in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup continued to prosper led by Harrogate Railway Athletic.

After going behind two minutes before half-time to visitors Clitheroe, the Rail seized command with a three-goal blitz in the space of eight minutes either side of the interval.

Lamin Colley wiped out the Clitheroe strike within a minute and then, after the break, a rapid one-two of goals followed from Fatlum Ibrahami and Nathan Cartman. There was no further addition to the scoreline as Harrogate advanced into the next round.

Meanwhile, Scarborough Athletic will face a replay at home tomorrow against Ashington after the Seasiders staged a rallying performance in the North-East.

The hosts led twice in the second half through goals from Glen Taylor but each were wiped out by efforts by former York City and Whitby Town defender James Beadle, his second equaliser hit in stoppage time.

After a three-match undefeated run, Harrogate Town returned to flirting with the wrong end of the Conference North table, crashing 4-0 at home to bogey team Solihull Moors.

Town were already two down when they had defender Simon Lenighan sent off in the 30th minute.
