PAUL MARSHALL is hoping stablility can prove the master of money when Tadcaster Albion go to high-flying Handsworth Parramore in the Northern Counties East League premier division tomorrow.

The Brewers boss knows his side, which has boosted by the arrivals of Paddy Miller, former York City youth player Tom Chamberlain, Tom Morgan and Aaron Hudson in the last couple of weeks, will face the biggest examination of their promotion credentials against a home side that have dropped just two points all season.

Marshall reckons Handsworth, who combined with Worksop Parramore for this new campaign, are one of the division's big spenders but he feels the long-term plans he, and owners i2i sports, are developing at the club will pay dividends for Albion.

He explained: "It's another test. It will show us where we are in our division. Quite a number of new faces have come into the club and they are binding quite nicely. We are about 75 per cent of the way there.

"Once we have had a few more games - and can keep this run going - we can only get stronger. They finished strongly as Worksop Parramore last year and are even stronger now. They are one of the big spenders but we have invested in a couple of decent players and, hopefully, we have got that bit more stability in the squad and the club.

"Some teams are just throwing money and hoping to get the benefits straight away. We should have the edge on them. We are quite a stable club."

Pickering Town manager Mitch Cook hopes his side's 5-4 win over Armthorpe Welfare last weekend was a "turning point".

The Recreation Ground chief is hoping to welcome back Joe Danby, Ged Dalton and Tony Hackworth into his starting eleven for the NCEL premier division clash at Thackley and is looking to shore up at the back while continuing the free-scoring form that brought a precious three points last time out.

"We got out of it with a win and it might be a blessing in diguise," he said. "I hope it will be the turning point. We were the leading goalscorers in the league last year. At this moment in time we have only scored eight all season.

"That isn't us. We have been conceding the goals and it has got to stop."

On Thackley, he added: "Thackley is a winnable game and they will be thinking the same. I hope we will score this weekend and shore the other end up. The injury situation is a bit better. Danby, Hackworth and Dalton were on the bench last weekend and they've had another week's rest so there is reason for optimism."

In division one, Selby Town - who booked their place in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase with a 3-1 win over Stockport Sports in midweek - entertain Hall Road Rangers in the NCEL first division.

Harrogate Town, who picked up their second win of the season on Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over Stalybridge, entertain Solihull Moors at Wetherby Road. Harrogate Railway play Clitheroe at Station View in the Evo-Stik League first division north.
