UNION Rovers beat Kirkdale 7-2 in the final to lift the Richard Flaherty Memorial Trophy.
Union penned Kirkdale into their own half in the early stages and, after 15 minutes, Nicky Drew clipped a shot into the top right-hand corner with the outside of his right boot.
After a sweeping move, the Kirkdale left winger cheekily lofted the ball over the Union keeper to level the scores.
The two sides traded missed chances as half-time arrived with the score at 1-1.
Union shot out of the blocks quickly in the second period and, within five minutes, good play by their right winger saw a pass reach the centre forward, who coolly slotted his shot into the corner of the net.
A poor defensive clearance from a Union corner led to the third Rovers goal and they added to their tally to lead 7-1 with ten minutes to go.
Kirkdale’s centre forward deservedly reduced the deficit by pouncing on a mistake by the Union keeper.
