YORK 1’s dominance of the top tier of the Fulford Ladies Invitational Tennis League continued as they clinched their 18th division one title following a comprehensive 83-25 victory over Castlegarth.
Dunnington’s challenge fell away after a 74-34 defeat to Popp.
In division four, victories against Knaresborough 2 for both Popp 2 and Riccall ensured that they both will be promoted, Popp as champions.
New Earswick confirmed their position as champions of division five after defeating second-place Cawood 60-48, including a 25 game haul from captain Maz Broadbent and Zoe Cook. Both teams will now be promoted.
The Beryl Bean Over-55s Tournament will be held at Poppleton on Sunday, September 28 at 10am. Anyone wishing to enter should email rcantrell@ntlworld.com or phone 01904 795222.
The entry fee will be £4 per couple, which can be paid on the day.
