Adam Lyth has scored his fifth LV= County Championship century of the season to put Yorkshire in a very strong position at tea on day two against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford.

Replying to the Red Rose side’s 278, Yorkshire have reached 273-4 after 83 overs.

Yorkshire lost three wickets during the afternoon. Kane Williamson was stumped off a legside Stephen Parry delivery, who then had Andrew Gale caught at mid-wicket as he pulled a short ball.

And when Steven Croft bowled Jonny Bairstow for 60 following a stand of 103 between him and Lyth, Yorkshire were 266-4 in the 80th over, only 12 behind on first innings.

Lyth, dropped on 57 by Paul Horton at slip off Parry, reached his hundred off 213 balls with eleven fours. He is 111 not out.
